This video was very interesting. I really enjoyed watching it. Thank you.
Visited and George Washington was not home.
0/10 would not visit again.
Great video, especially the mention of Mount Vernon's Bastille Key, "George Washington's Liberty Key" at 0:57 For more info about it, check out https://shops.mountvernon.org/collections/bastille-key-collection
I visited a few years ago, and am chopping at the bit to go back!! Hopefully soon!! Canβt wait to see Mt. Vernon again and look at the new things!! π
Still like the Klingon promo better.
When I visited in the early 70s it was much simpler. There was only preservation and reconstruction. The feeling of a step back in time to the Mount Vernon estate as George Washington knew it was all that was required to instill a sense of humility and reflection. It was a respectful place which brought the 18th century into the 20th, not the other way around. With all of the cheesy attractions added since then, I'm sure he'd only recognize the house and gardens now. What a shame the rest of the carnival atmosphere wasn't placed somewhere else, somewhere far away from his beloved home. I wouldn't visit now that it's obviously commercialized. I'll always treasure those memories.
Same
I have made it a goal. To travel to Mount Vernon one day.
