How safe are tourists outside of their resort? I'm hearing the violence and crime has become escalated?

My wife and I traveled to Cancun a long time ago when you could still climb the steps of the pyramid at Chichen Itza and it cost $0.15 to get in. We and our friends haggled with all the cab drivers before we went anywhere, although we rented a car to drive back to Chichen Itza. Why don't you recommend that people haggle with the cab drivers? It was par for the course back then. You establish a price before you get in. Also you are correct about tipping. It got us a lot and didn't cost us a lot.

Would you recommend renting a car? Is Uber available? I usually like to use a service like that instead of taxis.

At close to the 10:23 mark you show a magnificent (?mall?) What is the name of it please? My wife and I will be traveling there in April/may of 2023 for the first time, and I would love to see that place in person!

I am traveling this December with my family. Do they have Uber there to get to downtown Cancun or go to Cenotes? Is it best to book tours instead of going on our own if we don’t have a car?

I've just come back from Cancun, it riu palace peninsula hotel, very friendly staff and well supplied drinks, we done a couple of excursions, but felt a bit out of the way, we normally go to riviera Maya region which is much closer to everything. In an all inclusive hotel we were tipping around 50 pesos if the service was excellent, 20 pesos if it was ok and a couple of times nothing as our table wasn't cleared between dishes and didn't get our drinks refilled and had to ask eventhough it was sometimes just water. We tipped the maid several times throughout the 2 weeks holiday

Sorry (not sorry) I will NEVER EVER leave tips, I don’t do it in Portugal and will surely not do it in another country. I am paying for a service and the person/company has the CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION to provide a good service. It’s not option, it is a demand. I will never give a tip to anyone for which service I am already paying

Can you please give me some tip prices? With an all inclusive resort, are we to tip our airport driver? I understand tipping at the restaurant by percentage, but what is a normal good tip to give maid and waiters in the resort?

Love your videos. You're absolutely right, I buy 2 sunscreens for 13 bucks at Walmart. I ran out once and they cost 25 USD there. Great advice.

Day 1… go downtown to the walmart and buy water, suntan lotion etc. Breakfast, lunch or snack foods. Go eat dinner someplace nice.
